Equity and diversity in demography and demographic research

Have you heard about the EAPS working group on equity and diversity in demography and demographic research?

It is a new working group, open to all, and with two main objectives:

  • To support and promote equity and diversity in demography as a community of people
  • To support and promote equity and diversity in demography as an academic discipline

The group was set up in early 2024, supported by more than 50 demographers at different stages of their career.

This is a short anonymous survey of 5 open-ended questions, which should only take a few minutes to complete. Your responses will be analysed by a team of demographers (after further anonymisation of any disclosive comments), and used mainly to help us decide what to do. Although please note that we may publicise our analysis, including anonymised quotations, for example in our reports to EAPS. When completing the survey, also note that we are keen to get your thoughts and ideas on how we can achieve our objectives, and what you think the priorities of the group should be over the first few years.

If you want a bit more background about the group then please see its page on the EAPS website. And if you would like to get involved in any capacity, or have additional feedback that you would like to give in person, then please contact us directly here: eapsequity@outlook.com, or look out for future calls via the EAPS newsletter and other communications.

The first question is on the following page. Thanks a lot for your time and interest!
