Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student is expected to be able to:

• understand the basic principles of sediment petrology

• identify sedimentary rocks macroscopically and microscopically

• classify sedimentary rocks

• understand the relationship between petrology and plate tectonic processes

• understand the relationships between sedimentary structures and transport processes
