Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student is expected to be able to:

• explain basic principles in metamorphic petrology

• use thermodynamics in metamorphic petrology

• use geothermobarometry to determine metamorphic pressure and temperature

• identify metamorphic rocks both macroscopically and in microscope

• classify metamorphic rocks

• understand the role of fluids in metamorphic processes
