Governments face significant governance challenges in managing the critical minerals needed for the energy transition, including geopolitical tensions, economic interdependencies, complex value chains, environmental impacts, and effects on local communities. This roundtable, co-organized by the Stockholm Center on Global Governance (SCGG) at Stockholm University and the MISTRA Mineral Governance research consortium, brings together scholars and practitioners to examine these challenges and their policy implications.
The discussion will focus on key risks and policy responses from a Swedish perspective, how stakeholders address governance challenges across local, national, and international levels, and the potential for greater regional and international cooperation on critical mineral governance.
